Majestic Ladakh
The trip begins with mandatory acclimatization for 1 day and then exploring the Stout or Upper Indus valley which is one of the unique experiences in Ladakh, the valley offers to witness some of the world-renowned ancient monasteries and drive along the upper Indus River makes the journey more perfect. On our guided day tour of the Stout valley, our local expert will take you to a few of the most spectacular and renowned monasteries in Ladakh and give you a glimpse of the local culture, history, and heritage. The KangYatse 2 Mountain Peak is the most prominent snow-capped peak as you trek on the Markha valley trail. The peak rises over 1700 M above the camping site in Nimaling. The Markha valley trek is one of the most sought-after trek in Ladakh. During the trek, you will follow the Markha river discovering a landscape where the lofty peaks of the Stok, Matho and Zanskar tower above picturesque Ladakhi villages and picturesque valleys. The trail will take you to Markha, Hankar and Thachungtse amidst the pikas and marmots. Kang Yatse 2 forms a pair with Kang Yatse 1, Kang Yatse 1 is 6400 M+ and is a technical climb as it requires considerable mountaineering skills whereas Kang Yatse 2 is at 6250 M in Altitude and is easier to ascent when compared with the former. Your Expedition to Kang Yatse 2 will start from Chilling from where you will cross the Zanskar river to enter the Markha Valley. You will follow a trail that ascends gradually to Nimaling and then to the base camp of Kang Yatse 2 which sits at over 5000 M. The Expedition to the peak is divided into 14 days and will have plenty of buffer days to ensure that you are well-acclimated to the high altitude and to counter cases of bad weather or any other conditions that you may face during the climb. Buffer days for acclimatization are very important as a mountaineer who is well acclimatized would have an easier time trekking and the only tedious day during the whole trip would be the day when we will climb the Summit which is about 10 - 12 hours round trip. During the summit climb of Kang Yatse 2, you will be roped up as you would be climbing over a steep slope in deep snow conditions which may hamper your walking speed considerably. If the sky is clear during the summit climb you would be able to see the whole of Markha valley, the eastern Karakoram range, and the Stok Range and you might also be able to spot Mount K2 which is over 200 Km away.
