After an early breakfast, drive to the Londorossi Park Gate to get your trekking permits. Begin the journey along a dense forest trail walking at a "pole pole" pace (slow!) to the Mti Mkubwa campsite. Slow hiking over the next few days helps with acclimatization to the high altitude. Enjoy a delicious meal before getting some well-deserved rest. Total Hiking: approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) / 4 hours of trekking Peak Altitude: 9,023 ft (2750 m)
Continue through the forest and into the savannah of tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock draped with lichen. Ascend through the lush rolling hills and cross several streams before reaching the Shira Ridge. Enjoy lunch on the trail before dropping slightly down to Shira 2 Camp. Spend the night in tents next to a stream with spectacular views of the Western Breach and its glaciers in the East. Total Hiking: approximately 10 miles (16 km) / 6-7 hours of trekking Peak Altitude: 12,598 ft (3840 m)
Enjoy warm tea and coffee before beginning your trek to Barranco Camp. The trail gradually steepens becoming a rocky semi-desert landscape. After lunch at the Lava Tower (15,220 ft), you will descend another 2 hours to the Barranco Campsite. The descent gives hikers a huge advantage to allow your body to adjust to the high altitude. Once at Barranco Camp, enjoy a hot dinner while taking in the beautiful sunset. Total Hiking: approximately 9.5 miles (15.3 km) / 7 hours trekking Peak Altitude: 15,220 ft (4640 m)
After a warm breakfast, depart Barranco Camp and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall to the Karanga Valley campsite. Total Hiking: approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) / 6 hours trekking Peak Altitude: 13,780 ft (4200 m)
Today we leave the Karanga Valley and pass the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. You have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. Total Hiking: approximately 5 miles (8 km) / 7 hours trekking Peak Altitude: 15,095 ft (4601 m)
Prepare for a spectacular (and long) day! Wake up between midnight to 2 am to hike up to the summit of Uhuru Peak at the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341 ft). Be prepared for a very cold summit with plenty of layers and enough battery to snap that summit shot. From the top, we will descend straight down to the Mweka camp site. Later in the evening, enjoy your last dinner on the mountain with your team of porters and guides. Total Hiking: approximately 10.5 miles (17 km) / 11-14 hours trekking Peak Altitude: 19,341 ft (5895 m)
Soak in one last view from Mweka camp and enjoy singing and dancing with your OneSeed team. Now is a good time to tip the porters, cooks, and guides. Continue down the trail to the Mweka Park Gate where a vehicle will meet you to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi. After a hot shower and rest, enjoy a delicious celebration dinner! Total Hiking: approximately 4.5 miles (7.2 km) / 6 hours trekking Peak Altitude: 10,171 ft (3100 m)
Time for safari! Depart Moshi after breakfast to drive to Tarangire National Park on a scenic 4-hour ride. At the park, pop the roof of the car and begin a game drive. Spot elephants, ostrich, waterbuck, giraffe, zebra, lions, and more. Wrap up the game drive and head to your campsite nestled within the park. Settle down for a beautiful night of camping under a star-filled sky. Peak Altitude: 3,325 ft (1014 m)
Enjoy a cup of coffee while watching troops of baboons wander by the campgrounds. After a hearty breakfast, take a morning game drive in Tarangire to spot more animals before having lunch at the park gates. After lunch, drive three hours to Ngorongoro for your first views of the massive crater teaming with wildlife. Continue on to your group campsite on the rim of the crater. Peak Altitude: 7,500 ft (2286 m)
Wake up early and drive into the spectacular crater. This UNESCO World Heritage site was formed by an imploded volcano over 3 million years ago. Now the conservation area is home to over 25,000 large animals where you can spot rhinos, zebras, lions, wildebeests, and impalas. Return to the campsite for lunch before the 4-hour drive back to Moshi, arriving around 5pm. Peak Altitude: 7,500 ft (2286 m)
Enjoy one last Tanzania coffee and say goodbye to Moshi town. OneSeed will provide airport transportation for all international departures. Peak Altitude: 2,800 ft (853 m)
